AN APPLICATION submitted to the Robin Rigg Community Fund by a Solway town council has been successful.

Silloth Town Council submitted the application for the grant to the fund and have been awarded £3,000.

The money will go towards the cost of the installation of solar panels on Silloth Community Hall. The installation of solar panels will build upon the improvements already made to the building in recent years and ensure its long term stability.

As part of the consenting process for the E-On Robin Rigg wind farm in the Solway Firth, a local Community Benefit Fund was established for a ten year period.

This time period has now come to an end and a new fund, the Robin Rigg Community Fund, is now running from 2020 to 2022.

Solway Firth Partnership will be administering the fund on both sides of the Solway.

The Robin Rigg Community Fund is available to community groups and organisations in the Solway area undertaking activities that contribute to the reduction of the effects of climate change or otherwise benefit the local community.

The deadline for applications was December. Further applications may be invited during 2020 if funds are available.
