COMMUNITIES in Workington holding a Big Lunch event could benefit from a town council grant of £300.
The Big Lunch will be celebrated across the UK on June 6 and 7 and the aim of the event is to bring communities together.
The national event is organised by the Eden Project and the National Lottery who are offering kits to help communities set up their own Big Lunch.
Events eligible for a Workington Town Council grant include gatherings, from a small meet-up in a garden or community centre to a large street party with trestle tables in the street.
A requirement of the grant is that activities must be free and open to the public.
