The only game able to go ahead involving Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League teams was the Whitehaven Cup tie between Gosforth and Silloth with the home team ensuring they progressed by winning 8-3.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, it was a credit to both teams and the match officials that the game was completed as they had to endure a heavy pitch, a strong wind and hailstones during portions of the game.
Despite the conditions, both teams attempted to play constructive football, resisting the option to just launch the ball forward with the elements at their back.
Gosforth, playing against the wind in the first period, managed to reach half time with a 2-1 lead.
Silloth, to their credit, battled away in the second period but the game was taken away from them with three Gosforth goals in a 10-minute spell of pressure.
Cameron Bowness claiming four of the Gosforth goals, supported by strikes from Matthew Pierce, Lewis Jolly, Jack Denwood and an own goal. Silloth replied through Matthew Reid, Jack Winter and Spencer Irwin.
The revised format for the divisional competitions have been confirmed as follows: Ken Glover Trophy: Aspatria, Cockermouth. Gosforth, Silloth, Wigton and Workington Juniors White
Divisional Cup: Bransty Rangers, Carlisle City Development, Cleator Moor Celtic, Crown Newlaithes, Maryport Athletic, Northbank, Whitehaven Miners and Workington Athletic.
Divisional Trophy: Mirehouse, Moor Row, UniSun Athletic, Whitehaven Amateurs, Windscale and Workington Juniors Black.
