A representative for the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund has given a cheque to the Every Life Matters organisation.
Fundraiser Mark Andrews presented the cheque, for £1,000 to Ian Alcock, suicide safer community co-ordinator.
The money is in memory of the son of one of the charity’s close friends and will be used to pay for a worker to go into schools in Copeland and Allerdale to train the teachers in suicide awareness.
Chris Wood, from Every Life Matters, said: “The money will go towards an ASK workshop. Which will Assess Suicide in Kids.
“It will train school staff and provide access to the right services for younger people that need it. If we can catch young people and talk to them about the issues earlier there is less chance they will have suicidal thoughts later in life.”
