MANAGEMENT changes within two schools which are part of the Cumbria Futures Federation are set to take place.

Solway Community School Silloth, and Beacon Hill School, Aspatria announced in a letter that both schools would see changes to the management.

Chair of governors, David Davidson wrote a letter addressing what exactly would change.

He said: “Within Cumbria Futures Federation we have created an environment that allows staff to thrive both within and outside the federation for their contributions to education.

“Our executive head, Judith Schafer’s contribution has been recognised not only through the “Good” Ofsted judgements at both Beacon Hill and Solway Community Schools, but also the school’s wider stakeholders.”

Mrs Schafer will now take up a two day secondment at West Lakes Academy, working on a teaching school for Cumbria.

“This brings immense benefits for both Judith and the federation and ensures, despite our small size, that we continue to be involved at the very heart of education development in the county and beyond,” added Mr Davidson.

During Mrs Schafer’s secondment changes will be made within both schools.

Members of current staff at both Beacon Hill and Solway Community School will undertake new roles to ensure that effective running of he schools continues.

Beacon Hill Community School:

n Assistant Head - Mr A Young

Solway Community School:

n Headteacher - Mr T Hailwood

n Assistant Head - Mrs S Thorpe

The role of federations business manager, undertaken by Mrs J Rowlands, will be expanded to take on a number of activities undertaken by other members of the management team.

Mr Davidson continued: “We are extremely fortunate that we have the breadth and depth within the management team to be able to make these changes, which will allow continued development for the individuals involved, the schools within the federation and education within the county and wider. As always the decisions we make are founded on solid principles and we have as a governing body, with ensuring that the federations continues to provide the best education possible for every student being at the heart of everything we do.
