FIREFIGHTERS were called out to two blazes within one and a half hours.
The crew from Carlisle East Fire Station were first called, a 5,45pm, this evening, to a rubbish fire behind the Gillford Centre, in Upperby Road, where they put it out using one hose reel.
The second call out, 7.30pm, was to a bench that had been set alight at Hammond's Pond in Carlisle's Upperby Park.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue said that the police informed them about the incident but the fire was "out and arrival" - so only required an inspection.
