WITH the county in lockdown and most people confined to home it can be easy for those doing the right thing, by staying at home, to get bored.

To help while away the hours the BBC announced last week that it was bringing back some of its classic box sets to its iPlayer format.

We've put together some suggestions, in no particular order, from the BBC's back catalogue which could keep you and the family entertained for days on end.

1 SPOOKS

First airing on the BBC in 2002, the Bafta-winning series follows adventures of the security services at MI-5, as they race against time to shut down imminent threats to national security.

Famous for its shocking twists and turns, many stars of British TV made their names with turns in Spooks across its ten series, including Keeley Hawes, Matthew MacFayden, David Oyelowo, Nicola Walker, Rupert Penry-Jones, Hermione Norris and Richard Armitage.

2 the thick of it

Follow the foul-mouthed adventures of Malcolm Tucker, the Government's master of spin.

The series satirizes the inner workings of central Government and focuses on the fictitious Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship.

Watch as the department bumbles from one crisis to another - with Malcolm pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

Warning contains very strong language - so maybe not a good call if there are young members of the family knocking about.

3 ASHEs to ASHES

Drama series following the exploits of DCI Gene Hunt.

In this first episode modern day DI Alex Drake is shot and lands in 1981, coming face-to-face with Gene Hunt, a relic of old-fashioned policing she had read about in Sam Tyler's reports.

Thinking that she is in a coma, Alex demands Hunt's help in tracking down the man who shot her in 2008.

The previous series with DCI Hunt, Life on Mars', may be worth a punt as well.

Again, there's adult themes, so not one to watch with young children present.

4 Ghosts

Cashed strapped young couple, Alison and Mike, think their prayers are answered when they inherit a sprawling country estate.

The catch? The old house is haunted by the ghosts of its former inhabitants. The restless spirits, horrified that the new owners plan to turn the peaceful pile into a bustling hotel, make plans to oust the troublesome newcomers.

All round family entertainment.

5 MERLIN

Action-packed fantasy adventure based in the fables of King Arthur and his wizard, Merlin, telling the story from when they were young men struggling to understand their destinies.

In this version Prince Arthur the heir to the throne but he's already acquainted with all those who will one day form the legend of Camelot, including Lancelot, Guinevere, and Morgana.

First aired in 2008.

Another one the whole family can watch.
