A personal development coach from Workington has launched a YouTube channel with the help of her friends which aims to bring motivation and guidance to people in Cumbria.

Co-founder of the Engage You Cumbria channel, Kathryn Jackson of Workington said: "My mindset it about supporting other people. It was my initiative.

"Working with my clients, I was hearing stories about how isolation was affecting them and their families, so I approached Claire with the idea when the older and more vulnerable people were first isolated but then we continued to develop the community support channel to include the kids too when they were isolated."

It is a chance for the team to use their expertise in a side project that benefits the community."

Kathryn said: "How can I, in my experience and knowledge, support those people from afar?"

Kathryn teamed-up with Claire Bull from Better Bodies UK for her knowledge on lifestyle, wellbeing and fitness as well as budding gaming YouTuber Alfie Goodwin for his presenting experience and technical skills.

The team are producing content for people in Cumbria which they hope will inspire and provide entertainment while residents are on lockdown in the coronavirus outbreak.

Claire Bull said: "It's lovely that something positive has come from this in being able to collaborate with other people in Cumbria."

Kathryn said: "Our aim to bring a break in everyone's day with some energy and support to help them help themselves now and going forward. Even if it's just helping a handful of people change their mindset."

Regular features on the Engage You channel include a local business spotlight, a self reflection session and interviews with quirky, interesting people. Their latest offering which was released on Wednesday evening, will include an interview with Charlotte Campbell, a busker who performs under the London Eye.

They hope that this kind of content will be a positive boost for people.

"Music has been known to lift our spirit" said Kathryn.
