Cumbria's libraries have launched a new online book club, to keep the county inspired to read throughout the coronavirus lockdown.

The county council's library service has launched an online book club, which it hopes will foster discussion of and engagement in reading during the coronavirus crisis.

Cumbrian residents are able to access digital books through the library's website.

The first book up for discussion is the The Wife Between Us, by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, described as a "gripping thriller", with talk of a Hollywood film adaptation already well underway.

The Wife Between Us is available to download for free as either an ebook or eaudiobook, from Cumbria libraries' Borrowbox platform, via the Borrowbox app or online.

A Cumbria library service spokesman said: "If you don’t already use Borrowbox, you will need your 14 digit library membership number and your PIN to begin.

"If you are not a member of the library already, you can apply online for library membership.

"If you are already a member but can't remember your card number and PIN, don’t worry, just contact libraries@cumbria.gov.uk

"Staying socially connected is very important for keeping up morale and for supporting everyone’s mental health as we adjust to this new way of living, so why not try our new virtual reading group - keep in touch and keep reading whilst social distancing."
