Workington MP Mark Jenkinson has welcomed his Government's support for local businesses.
The Government launched the Small Business Grants Scheme in repsonse to the coronavirus pandemic, backed by £12.3 billion.
The funding is provided to local authorities, who are then able to offer grants of up to £10,000 to small businesses, and up to £25,000 for eligible leisure, retail and hospitality businesses.
Since the scheme’s launch last month, £6.1bn has been paid out to 491,725 business properties across England.
This includes grants of £31million to 2,698 businesses by Allerdale Council.
Mr Jenkinson said: “The support that Government has provided, including grants to small businesses operating within the Workington constituency, is a welcome lifeline."
