FIREFIGHTERS were called to the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral last night to put out a burning tent.
The crew arrived there at about 9.10pm and found the tent abandoned and burning on a grassy area which had formerly been used as a car park.
There was no sign of the occupant.
"It was burned to the ground," said a crew member.
The crew used a hosereel jet and drag hooks to put out the fire and make the scene safe.
The cause of the fire is not known.
