The Coastguard and Workington's RNLI team are currently searching for what could be a missing fisherman in the water off the Whitehaven coast.
Workington RNLI's all-weather lifeboat the Dorothy May White, crewed by volunteers, is searching the Irish Sea, alongside a Coastguard search and rescue team.
HM Coastguard has confirmed in the last hour that it is looking for what could be a "person in the water."
"Initial information suggested a fisherman was on the pier around 11am and has not been seen since," a spokesman for the Coastguard said.
"If this was you or you have any information which may help this search please contact Belfast Coastguard on 02891 463933."
