Our Trader of the Week Manon Plouffe, owner of the Wild Zuchinnis Bistro in Cockermouth has worked hard to maintain the business and serve longstanding customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Manon has made changes to the bistro’s services to ensure it can continue to run in spite of the challenges posed by social distancing.

“We’ve had to reinvent ourselves a little bit but I am very grateful for the support.”

The Wild Zuchinnis is running with contactless deliveries and a two metre rule if customers have to pick their food up from the bistro.

“I have a special of the week, Sunday brunches from 10am to 1pm and Sunday roast 1pm to 4pm.”

Manon added that she unfortunately had to furlough her staff and has been running the business on her own with support from her son and husband who are making deliveries.

“I prefer delivery for everybody’s safety.”

Manon’s nominator said: “She produces delicious meals every week and delivers direct to your door at a date and time convenient to you.

“They are very reasonable priced and payment is via bank transfer after you have enjoyed her goodies.”

They added that Manon is working hard to keep serving her customers.

Her nominator said: “She gives up all of her time in order to keep her small business going and deserves some recognition.

Manon said: “It’s a tough ordeal but we have got to carry on. I think it’s the best way forward to keep going.”

She has found a reason to be positive in the success of Wild Zuchinnis’ new way of doing business.

“Customers are very kind and supportive I feel touched and blessed.

“I do envisage that the post lockdown will be a difficult time, people will be wary of coming out in public places.”

But the bistro will look to continue on in “the new normal” continuing the contact deliveries and expanding the lunch time delivery service.
