ELDERLY residents have had their spirits lifted with a visit from some musical Vikings.

Brockwell Court Care Home, in Consett, enjoyed a socially-distanced performance from a local band, The Biking Vikings North-East.

Residents and the care team from the home on Cobden Street enjoyed safely from the conservatory whilst the Vikings performed at a distance from the care home garden.

The band rolled into the care home’s garden on its chariot dressed in full Norse attire.

Popular numbers included ‘You are my Sunshine’ and ‘The Hokey Cokey’, with one of Brockwell Court’s male residents performing a beautiful solo of ‘Danny Boy’ accompanied by the band playing the pipes.

The Biking Vikings usually are seen at fairs and events to raise money and awareness for the charity Brain Tumour Research.

Care home manager Natalie Graham said “We’d like to say a huge thankyou to all of The Biking Vikings for coming along to our home and entertaining us all so brilliantly. The day completely raised the spirits of both the care team and the residents. “We were thankful as it is really important to us to keep the joy alive during these times. It was lovely for all involved to be able to experience the performance both safely and comfortably, and we would welcome back the band anytime.”
