Delivery drivers are set to receive NSPCC training to spot the signs of child abuse.

The children’s charity has partnered with Deliveroo to provide its riders with free training on looking for and recognising the signs of abuse and neglect.

The NSPCC is aiming to reach more at-risk children through the scheme as it believes delivery drivers are well placed to spot abusive households as they deliver to homes.

NSPCC chief executive Peter Wanless said: “Riders and other workers visiting people’s home during the pandemic have the unique opportunity to see or hear things that others may not.

"Therefore, it is important that they feel confident in knowing what to do if they are concerned about a child.”

The same safeguarding awareness course It’s Your Call is free during the pandemic as the charity is concerned about children who may be lockdown in abusive homes.
