A rescue team was deployed after walkers became lost at the weekend.

Keswick Mountain Rescue team was called after a couple of walkers found themselves unknowingly at the summit of Helvellyn.

Along with the team was Beck the search dog, who helped her handler Chris with the search. He said: “Two walkers had got lost attempting a circuit of the Dodds and ended up on the summit of Helvellyn.

“They did not know they were at the top of Helvellyn as they were completely lost.

“With darkness approaching and very poor visibility they called 999 asking for mountain rescue. A small group of team members set off to locate and walk them off the hill.

“Search dog Beck accompanied them as backup in case the two walkers were not where they were expected.

“As hoped, the walkers were at the top of Helvellyn and were walked off down to Swirls.”
