A support worker and artist from Keekle has been putting her artistic abilities to good use during lockdown.

Sian Price, 46, said she has always done art as part of her life, and has found herself busy designing logos, doing supportive NHS art and has produced animal art too over the last few weeks.

She uses many different mediums including spray painting, sculpting and digital to create her pieces.

“Paint, pencils and pixels is how I describe it as I work with canvases, paper and wood, but also a lot of digital art too,” said Sian.

She designs murals on her tablet and then uses spray paint and paint to recreate them. Even producing a Dali inspired work for an entire wall at a campsite in Spain, which she usually visits for three or four months every year to stay in her caravan.

Lockdown has prevented the trip this year, but Sian has been just as busy, if not more so, producing wonderful artworks from home.

She said: “I wanted something on my gates at Keekle and in a day and a half had a couple of pieces up.”

She also designed the Cleator Moor Covid group logo ‘One Town Our Town’ and took an active part in the group, as food pantry leader.

And she designed a logo for the side of a vehicle in the Copeland convoy, which was held every week to thank the NHS and frontline workers.

She painted on a wooden plaque for William King, which went on the side of his truck.

There were also caricatures created for the six zone leaders from the Cleator Moor Covid Group, as a ‘bit of fun’ which were drawn digitally with a tablet.

Sian usually does the artwork for several music festivals, including Solfest, Kendal Calling and Wannasee but with them being cancelled said: “With six festivals being cancelled it’s been a strange year, but I’ve got a few commissions and did a few caricatures for father’s day and painting for The Colourful North should be kicking in. I’m thinking about doing something on a wall in Cleator Moor too, they have been so fabulous.”

More of Sian’s artwork can be seen, or work commissioned at her Facebook page Sian Price Creative.
