Officers have named the man who died in a motorway crash.
The incident was reported about 4.05am on Monday, on the northbound carriageway of the A74 (M) near Junction 20 - about three miles from Annan.
The man who died has been identified as 32-year-old Gary Harrison, from the Preston area, in Lancashire.
Dumfries & Galloway Police Division said he was the driver and sole occupant of a silver Renault Clio.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Sergeant Leigh McCulloch, Dumfries & Galloway Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Harrison family and friends at this time.
“We are continuing with enquiries.
“We want to establish the circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.
“In particular we would be keen to speak to anyone who was on the road early yesterday morning and may have dashcam footage.”
