A PARISH council has alerted the public to the information that some public toilets in the village will remain closed.

Allonby Parish Council announced the news that the toilets near Twentymans and Jack Surf Bars are under the ownership and responsibility of Allerdale Council and the decision has been made to open them on a one in one out basis.

With regards to the playground and nearby toilets, these are under the ownership and responsibility of the parish council. After careful consideration of the Government guidelines regarding opening the facilities the parish council has made the decision to keep the toilets and playground closed for now.

A spokesman for the council said: “These decisions are based on financial, health and safety and public responsibility grounds and will be regularly reviewed by the council to ensure the playground and toilets are reopened as soon as is possible.”
