Man fights for life

A CYCLIST is still fighting for his life after being involved in a crash with a milk tanker on Monday. The man, aged 30, from the Chippenham area suffered a life-threatening head injury in a collision on the A350 which happened at about 12.35am. A police spokesman said: “The man was riding a Carrera pedal cycle along the A350 near to the Plough crossroads towards Chippenham when he was involved in a collision with the driver of a milk tanker travelling in the same direction. The cyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The driver of the milk tanker was not injured. The road was closed for six hours.” Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage.

Vehicle seized

A VEHICLE was seized and the driver reported for having no insurance after he was stopped by police in Commerce Way, Melksham, on Monday, June 29.

Street warning

A MAN in his teens from Corsham was issued with a cannabis street warning after his vehicle was stopped by police in The Spa, Melksham, on Monday, June 29. Officers found the driver possessed a small amount of cannabis.

Drugs swipe

A MAN in his 20s from Melksham was released under police investigation after being stopped by police on the A3102 at Melksham on Monday, June 29 due to the poor manner of driving. The driver was given a drug swipe test which tested positive for cannabis. He was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. A male passenger in his 20s in the same vehicle was found to be in possession of a small quantity of cannabis and was given a cannabis street warning.

Traffic offences

A WOMAN in her 20s from Seend was reported for having no valid insurance, MOT or car tax after being stopped in Beanacre Road, Melksham, on Tuesday, June 30. Her vehicle was seized.

Plant pots stolen

TWO large plant pots were stolen from the front layby to a house in New Road, Melksham, on Wednesday, July 1.
