A KESWICK theatre has had a makeover - thanks to a talented set designer and some supporters.

Louie Whitemore, who is originally from Cumbria but now lives in London, has worked at the Theatre by the Lake regularly.

Last year she designed the sets for the three main shows.

Louie contacted the theatre recently and offered to give it a makeover as part of the national #scenechange project. Along with some theatre supporters she has wrapped part of the building in pink barrier tape reading ‘Missing Live Theatre’.

Hundreds of theatres across the country - which are all standing empty as a result of lockdown restrictions - have been decorated.

“We were delighted when Louie and a team of Theatre by the Lake campaigners offered to wrap our building for the #scenechange project,” said Rachel Swift, head of communications.

“The tape says ‘missing live theatre’ and we all are.

“The project has been organised by a community of designers who work in theatre.

“The aim is to bring joy and colour to venues that currently stand empty.”
