A WOMAN was rescued from a mountain pool while ghyll scrambling in the Lake District.
The 29-year-old was taking part in the organised activity at Stoneycroft Beck in the Newlands Valley on Saturday.
She injured her ankle after she jumped in and hit the stream bed.
Her instructor managed to get her out of the pool and Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called, at about 4.45pm, to help bring her to safety.
The rescue involved 16 members of Keswick MRT and took more than three hours.
A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: "Two vehicles were dispatched and after negotiating heavy traffic through Keswick and Braithwaite managed to get to the casualty, who was on a steep grassy bank.
"After providing various pain relief and splinting the ankle the woman was placed on a stretcher and hauled up to the main path.
"From here it was a relatively short carry to the road. It was a busy day for NWAS and after some delay an ambulance arrived and transported her to hospital in Carlisle."
