RESCUERS were called after a woman slipped and sustained a serious leg injury in the Lake District.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) attended the incident on Brock Barrow, at the south-east end of Coniston Water, at around 4.15pm yesterday.
"Heavy rain and strong winds meant few walkers on the high fells, but even the lower fells were very slippery," said the spokesman.
Pain relief was administered to the woman and her leg splinted. She was then stretchered to an ambulance waiting at High Nibthwaite for transfer to Furness General Hospital.
