Firefighters were called to rescue a cyclist who crashed into a ditch over the weekend.
Crews from Carlisle West and Wigton responded just after 5pm on Saturday to the crash between Newton Arlosh and Angerton bridge, Kirkbride.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue said: "The incident involved one cyclist who had left the carriageway.
"Firefighters extricated the casualty from a ditch using a triple extension ladder.
"Crews remained on scene for approximately one and a half hours."
A spokesman for the police said: "We were called by Cumbria Fire and Rescue at about 5pm on the August 8, to the report of a road traffic collision.
"The incident involved a single pedal cycle.
"A man in his 70s was taken to the Royal Infirmary Hospital with serious injuries."
