A charity is calling on the community to get behind them and take part in a cake off.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria (HHWC) will hold 'The Great Hospice Cake Off to raise funds on September 10.

Everyone who signs up will receive a ‘Baking Battle Pack’ which is packed full of ideas on how to participate whilst adhering to the latest government guidelines.

Gemma Bell, community fundraiser for HHWC said: “We understand things are a bit different this year but there are many ways you can still take part, whether that be a socially distanced picnic in your garden, or a virtual coffee morning - however you choose to take part, we will be hugely grateful for your support.

"Every penny raised from The Great Hospice Cake Off will stay in West Cumbria and ensure we can continue helping patients and their families who desperately need our vital services.”

The Sugarcraft Corner in Workington, which is part of Chambers Joinery, is sponsoring the fundraising campaign for the second year running.

Alison Chambers, owner of the Sugarcraft Corner said: “I like to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria wherever and whenever I can as the services they provide in our local community are invaluable.

"I know many people who have needed their support and know what a difference their services provide to families who are going through a really difficult time.”
