A SUSPECTED drink-driver from Keswick has been given a 17-month driving ban after he admitted failing to give police a breath sample for alcohol analysis.
Charlie Andrews, 25, of Millfield Gardens, committed the offence on June 21.
He pleaded guilty during a brief hearing before Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court.
As well as imposing the ban, magistrates imposed a community order, which will involve the defendant completing 120 hours of unpaid work in the community over the next 12 months.
He must also pay £85 prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
The court offered Andrews the drink-drivers’ rehabilitation course, which if completed by July 16 next year will reduce the length of his ban by 17 weeks.
The offence was committed in Carlisle.
