A free online event is being held to help businesses prepare for the end of the Government's furlough scheme.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will come to an end at the end of October.

Tomorrow at 10am accountants and business advisers Armstrong Watson is running an event named 'Phasing out of Furlough - Difficult Decisions'.

Armstrong Watson, which has branches across Cumbria, said the event will "look at the implications for businesses that continue to rely on this support, and the difficult decisions that may now have to be made to ensure sustainability".

Paul Dickson, Armstrong Watson chief executive and managing partner, will be joined by payroll specialist Karen Thomson who sits on advisory committees for HMRC, Armstrong Watson restructuring expert, Heather Bamforth, and employment lawyer, Stuart Irving from Bendles Solicitors.

They will discuss what the changes to the furlough scheme mean, what this could look like for employers and their workforce, and suggest ways to help businesses navigate through the situation.

The panel are accepting questions both ahead of and during the webinar - all of which will be confidential - and any input during the webinar will be anonymous to viewers.
