A Year 7 pupil in Workington has tested positive for coronavirus.
Workington Academy announced in a letter to parents that a Year 7 pupil had tested positive for Covid-19 after they received confirmation from the parents late last night.
The school confirmed the news on today (September 16), revealing that the pupil and all people who came into contact with them are in self-isolation.
Mr Des Bird, headteacher, said in the letter that is posted on the schools website: "We were informed of a positive Covid-19 test for a Year 7 student late on Tuesday night and immediately put into action our planned response.
"All close contacts of the child were asked to remain at home and self-isolate for 14 days. No staff needed to self-isolate.
"We wish the student concerned a speedy recovery."
The news was also confirmed on the school's Facebook page.
