While most brides might go all Bridezilla if they had to postpone their weddings for a second time, Lauren Moody has used her own wedding experience to help other couples and she hopes it will be third time lucky next year for Lauren and fiancé Barry Allison’s big day.

Lauren, 25, from Penrith, has a background in events and wedding planning, working with venues such as Askham Hall, Roundthorn Country House and Storrs Hall in Windermere.

She met fiancé Barry, 35, also from Penrith, while they were both working in hospitality at the Roundthorn Country House and Barry was the chef.

They were supposed to get married on May 2, then put it back to October and now the wedding has been postponed until May 16 2021.

On May 2 – the original wedding date – Lauren and Barry both got dressed up and spent a special day together. She said: “We had a Champagne breakfast and received lots of beautiful flowers from the bridal party, then we had a takeaway.”

For their wedding Lauren chose the Eden Barn venue, at Kirkby Stephen, and really wanted to do a Boho wedding, complete with a wedding chill-out tent. However, she struggled to find the right type of bell tent for the occasion and discovered a gap in the Cumbrian market. She has now launched her own bell tent company – Bohemia Bell Tents – which can supply customers with a tent for events including wedding chill outs, garden get-togethers, birthdays, hen parties, baby showers, and festival-style glamping.

She said the response has been absolutely incredible, with prospective couples already booking as far ahead as 2022. They intend to increase their tent number to four next season.

Lauren said that having to cancel their wedding with just six weeks to go was devastating. She added: “Everything was ready, the wedding dress fitted perfectly then we had to make the decision a few days prior to lockdown coming in. It was very very stressful, absolutely awful, but we came to the realisation that it wasn’t going to happen.”

They moved it to October then realised they wouldn’t be able to have all their guests there, so have now postponed it until next year.

Lauren will have five bridesmaids – her sister Charlotte Moody, Jade Hodgson, Lucy Ellwood, Hannah Farrell and Leanne Dawson, and Barry’s best man will be Peter Askins. The couple hope to honeymoon in Bali or Mexico.

Anyone interested in hiring a Bell Tent at £200 with everything inside, or £250 with a Boho picnic, should call Lauren on 07960 167242 or go to Bohemia Bell Tents facebook page. Or bohemiabells@outlook.com
