Parents in Carlisle are being urged by police to ensure they are aware of what their children are up to when playing outside.
Police have received reports that a number of youths, some as young at 10 or 11, have been abusive towards staff at Morton Leisure Centre, as well as causing distress to children attending after school clubs there.
The area will now be targeted for police patrols. A spokesman for Cumbria Police said that any youths found to be engaging in antisocial behaviour will be dealt with "robustly."
"We understand the majority of youths go out and cause no issues whatsoever, however, swearing, shouting and entering venues to cause annoyance is unacceptable behaviour in the community," the spokesman said.
