FORTY students from an East Dorset school are self-isolating after a positive coronavirus case was confirmed.

A year 10 pupil at Queen Elizabeth’s School has tested positive, the school’s fifth in two weeks.

Headteacher Katie Boyes confirmed the case is linked to a community acquired transmission from outside the school.

Ms Boyes said: “I can confirm that a Year 10 student has received a positive Covid result.

“Public Health England (PHE) said the case is linked to a community acquired transmission outside the school.

“The student and those they have been in close contact with have been asked to isolate for 14 days. It affects 40 students.

“We have rigorous measures in place to limit the spread of the virus should it be brought into the school, and they are working.”
