New homes have been given the go-ahead, despite neighbour’s concerns that their privacy will be ruined by the build.

Developers have been given permission to build a further two houses next to Overcroft Farm, Greysouthen, next to the recently completed development on the corner of Main Street.

It is unknown how many bedrooms each house will contain, but space for eight cars to park will be created, as outlined in the plans.

And while the parish council and other organisations had no objections to the build, those living near the site shared their concerns, fearing that they will have no privacy once the homes are built.

Objecting to the plans, one resident said: "To create distance away from the farm buildings, this has resulted in squashing the development right up against the boundary line of our property and will lead to a significant impact on our own privacy.

"A more acceptable development would be to build one property of appropriate size, fitting in with all of the existing properties, centrally located on the site, preserving privacy for both properties, ourselves and the new development.

"Up to this point, all previous developments around us have been respectfully sited to ensure everyone's maximum privacy."

Despite the opposition, the Allerdale Borough Council planning authority has given the proposal the green light, with a list of 12 conditions for the developers to meet before and during the build.
