An ELDERLY woman was rescued from her car following a collision.

A spokesman from Cumbria Police confirmed officers were called to the incident at 12.35pm on Monday (September 28), to a report of a single vehicle collision on Moresby Park Road, Whitehaven.

The accident saw an elderly woman collide with a brick wall in a Ford Fiesta, and she remained trapped in her car following the crash.

Fire crews and the North West Ambulance Service were also called to help.

A team from Whitehaven Fire Station arrived, and helped free the woman from the car.

The driver suffered injuries, but they were not believed to be life threatening.

Once moved into the ambulance by the fire crew, she was then taken to West Cumberland Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
