Cumbria County Council's cabinet member for the environment, experienced recycling first hand recently, when she had a visit to CRL, formerly Cumbria Recycling Limited at Lillyhall, Workington.

Councillor Celia Tibble was so impressed with the equipment that she bought herself a washing machine.

She said: "Everything they pick up they use, power packs, cables, it's all reused."

The company gets all the items, such as washers, driers, TVs, fridges and IT equipment from the Cumbria County Council's Household Waste Recycling Centres throughout Cumbria.

Their policy is to reduce, reuse and recycle and try to repair and refurbish the items, then sell them in their Hallwood Road, Lillyhall showroom. Items can also be seen on their Facebook page at CRL.
