POSITIVE Covid-19 tests have been received from a student and a member of staff from St Joseph's Catholic High School in Workington.

In an open letter on Monday, headteacher Jacky Kennedy said: "One of our cleaning staff and a student in Year 9 are positive.

Transmission amongst the staff and students was likely to be minimal.

"Our cleaner has been absent since Wednesday and works at the end of the day when she is in.

"The student was only in school last week for a limited time on Wednesday morning."

The school has taken a proactive approach to Covid-19.
