A LORRY fire bought traffic to a grinding halt on a road the A596 between Wigton and Carlisle.
Two fire crews, from Carlisle's east and west fire stations, attended to the incident near Whinnow.
A spokesman from Carlisle East Fire Station said they received the call at 12pm.
The blaze started in an axle and firefighters used a hosereel and breathing apparatus - they were at the scene for around 20 minutes.
According to the Inrix monitoring system, traffic has now returned to normal.
