Three new coronavirus deaths have been announced at the hospital trust which runs the West Cumberland Hospital.

The North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, announced the deaths in today's figures.

There were recorded on October 21, 24 and 26.

Two further deaths were announced on Tuesday. These patients lost their lives on August 8 and August 9.

There were no new deaths announced at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust - which includes the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital in Barrow. In the last seven days, however, they have recorded 18 deaths.

It comes as the number of recorded coronavirus cases in Cumbria increased by 20 over the last 24 hours.

This was according to official Public Health figures released yesterday.

Public Health England figures show 7,222 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday (November 3) in Cumbria, up from 7,202 the same time on Monday.
