A FORMER soldier is set to walk the streets, as part of a national campaign to support homeless veterans.

Allerdale Borough Councillor Peter Little is set to complete his task on December 18, walking the streets of Maryport to raise funds, taking part in Walking with the Wounded's Walking Home for Christmas campaign.

The charity supports all those who have served in the military with their mental health, employment, finding a home, and care coordination.

And after serving in the Armed Forces for almost 10 years, Coun Little is devoted to getting veterans the support they need.

Commenting on the vital situation last month, he said: "Nobody should be homeless in this day and age.

“It’s all about raising awareness, and getting help for people who need it, because no-one deserves to be homeless.

“It could happen to any of us – you never know what’s around the corner."

But the Allerdale Armed Forces Champion's good deed doesn't end there.

With Christmas coming soon, the 36-year-old is determined to help as many people as possible, encouraging everyone in Maryport and beyond to donate children's toys and food hampers to the cause, which he will deliver to the elderly and vulnerable as he completes his walk.
