A road closure is expected this week, with road users told to expect delays while works are carried out.

The closure and diversion route are set to be in place on Fitz Road, Cockermouth, from November 25, lasting until November 27.

It has been given approval by Cumbria County Council to allow United Utilities to complete necessary works on the street.

The closure will prevent any vehicle from driving on the section of the road from its junction with Princess Street for about 60 metres.

A pathway for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

Drivers are urged to follow the diversion route, which includes using Lamplugh Road, Brigham Road and Mayo Street to avoid the roadblock.
