This week we’ve been flicking through our archives at photos of Newton Rigg College which is based near Penrith.
The college’s future hangs in the balance as current owners Askham Bryan College confirmed in May that it would no longer be delivering education from the site after July 2021.
Newton Rigg was established in 1896 to serve the needs of the farming and rural communities in what was then Cumberland and Westmorland and thousands of Cumbrians have happy memories of their student days there.
There are currently around 888 students based on the campus studying subjects from floristry to forestry.
Our photos show some of the students and staff from Newton Rigg over the last 20 years.
See if there is anyone you recognise?
