A COASTAL road has reopened in the Allonby area after authorities cleared debris.

The B5300 coastal road between Allonby and Mawbray was closed for days after high tide filled the road with debris.

Coastal debris has made the road an ongoing issue for a number of years.

The road was reopened by Cumbria County Council's highways team, on schedule, yesterday afternoon.

A road closure is in place at High Brigham until around midnight tonight.

The closure is in place whilst Cumbria County Council complete carriageway patching works.

Acorn Street in Keswick is closed until midnight tonight to make way for urgent United Utilities works. Teams are carrying out an excavation on the carriageway to restore water service.

Diversions are in place until the works are complete.

Cumbria County Council has also imposed a temporary speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the A596 between Aspatria and High Scales whilst bridge repairs take place.
