More than 300 people have now died in north Cumbria's hospitals after contracting Covid-19 since the pandemic began, after five further deaths were today reported.

A total of 302 Covid-positive patients have now died across north Cumbria's hospitals since the coronavirus pandemic first took hold.

A further five deaths were today confirmed to have taken place across the North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) NHS Trust, which runs hospitals across north Cumbria including the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

One of the deaths reported today took place yesterday, and a further two reported today took place on Monday.

A fifth death reported today by NHS England took place on Saturday.

A further five deaths were also reported today across the trust running hospital services in south Cumbria, the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.

A total of 418 deaths among Covid-19 positive patients have taken place across the trust since the pandemic began.
