Police were at the scene of a crash early this morning
Highways England has confirmed that a crash on the M6 closed the northbound lane for a time in the early hours of this morning.
The roads authority has said that one lane was closed between the J39 near Shap and the J40 towards Penrith after a crash.
Traffic officers and Cumbria Roads Police were at the scene of the incident which occurred between 4am and 4.30am
Recovery and maintenance crews were also required.
The lane closure was removed at around 5.30am
