A GRATEFUL stall owner is giving back to NHS staff while markets are postponed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bron Stringer sells her homemade bath bombs on markets in Workington, Cockermouth and Silloth under normal circumstances but during lockdown, she has focussed the efforts of her business on NHS lifesavers.

Bron was recently admitted to West Cumberland Hospital with a heart problem caused by her medication and the care she received motivated her to make NHS themed bath bombs for NHS heroes.

“I was really poorly, I was in primary care. I had treatment second to none. I thought if I can do something to give back I will.”

Bron, from Workington made the ambulance stations her first stop. She later received a call from a member of ambulance staff called Tracy.

“She said that’s one of the nicest gestures we’ve had.”

Her business, Bron’s Bombastic has taken off. She makes the bath bombs and daughter Amy uses her illustration skills to paint them.

Bron said: “I don’t care how big it gets, it will always be a market stall to me.

“Workington Markets will always be the centre of my business.”

Owning a market stall was a childhood dream for Bron: “There’s just something about a market that’s the bare bones of retail. Usually that person has a story to tell you about their product.”

And the story behind Bron’s products is a deeply personal one.

“It started because my young daughter has eczema, she wanted bath bombs but every time she got one it would flair up.”

She researched soap and bath bombs for sensitive skin, studying a course in producing them.

“It’s the best thing I ever did. It’s just about finding new ways for kids who like the bubble baths but it irritates their skin.”

Under normal circumstances, Bron and her daughter would produce the bath bombs in the base above Seventh Heaven on Murray Road, Workington.

Bron hopes to get back to the base in the coming weeks after producing the bath bombs from her kitchen during lockdown.

She said: “My kids are getting sick of tasting snow fairy flavoured tea!”
