Emergency services were forced to close Corney Fell road after the serious crash on the A595.

Officers were called just before 3pm yesterday.

The A595 was closed while the driver and two passengers were rescued and handed over to paramedics, two of which had serious injuries.

A spokesman for the police said: "We were contacted at 2.38pm on March 2, to a report of a collision on Corney Fell Road, Bootle.

"Involved in the collision was a Suzuki 5 door saloon.

"The driver a 29-year-old man from Cleator Moor was airlifted to the Royal Preston Infirmary. The two passengers, a 27 and a 28-year-old man were taken to the Royal Preston Infirmary and Blackpool Victoria Hospital with serious injuries.

"The road was temporarily closed on the A595, near Waberthwaite, but has since fully re-opened."

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with dash cam footage to please get in touch.
