AN APPEAL has gone out for Workington town councillors ahead of elections in May.

The council, based in Oxford Street, has two vacancies in the St John's ward, one in the Salterbeck ward and one in the Stainburn ward.

According to Allerdale Borough Council, local elections will take place on May 6 with a number of town, borough, county and parish council seats up for grabs.

The police and crime commissioner vote also takes place. 

Currently there are five vacant seats on Allerdale Borough Council - these include Aspatria ward, Christchurch ward, Ellen & Gilcrux ward, Seaton & Northside ward and St John’s ward.

There is also two Cumbria County Council division vacancies - including the St John’s and Great Clifton division, and the Cockermouth North Cumbria County Council division.
