READERS have reacted after a teenager had to be rescued from a child’s swing last week.

The 13-year-old girl had been stuck in the toddler’s swing for over two hours and was eventually cut out by firefighters, who used small tools and a hydraulic pedal cutter.

During the incident, an ambulance was called and the 13-year-old was attended to by paramedics for related injuries.

Barrow Insider said: “It’s best to take a hacksaw with you when you try to fit into a swing that’s too small for you. Personally I don’t try to fit into children’s swings. Alternatively a cordless jigsaw would be good but possibly a bit dangerous.”

Triumphtriple said: “Well I hope the parents are going to pay for a replacement swing.”

Janine Fleming said: “Must say that teenagers shouldn’t be in the toddler’s playground.

“There are certain ones we don’t go to as the older kids take over the toddler part. No chance for the little ones to play and if you politely ask them to move on, you just get a mouthful of abuse off them.”

Tim Woodburn said: “Brilliant, every day’s a school day.”

Rachel Kirkby said: “I think at some point we have all done this in our teens.

“I rather think that there is photographic evidence somewhere of me sitting in one of these when I was at uni and had a much smaller backside.”

David Bertram said: “We’ve all been there.”

Vikki Elizabeth Currie said: “Should have known better – paramedics and fire service have other jobs to go to.”

“They’re for small children.”

Lee Boardman replied: “Everybody has done stupid stuff, especially in their teens.”

To which Vikki Elizabeth Currie responded: “I know but we are in a middle of a pandemic they have seriously ill people to save.”
