The A66 Stainburn Bypass is set to close overnight to allow improvements to be carried out.
Highways England is carrying out the works at the A595/A66 Great Clifton roundabout.
It will include installing bollards, resurfacing the carriageway and drainage improvements.
The improvements were set to begin today and are expected to last for around two weeks. They will take place Monday to Friday, between 8pm and 6am.
For safety, overnight closures of the A66 Stainburn Bypass are needed, and diversion routes will be in place via the A595 and A596.
Temporary three-way traffic lights will be put in place at Great Clifton roundabout.
