Plans for a housing estate in Maryport consisting of 66 homes have gained council approval.
In the vision outlined in documents submitted to Allerdale Borough Council, developers Gleeson Homes, will oversee the transformation of the six-acre Broughton Moor plot into affordable 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi and detached homes.
Finding a new use for previously coal mined land off Dearham Road, the new development is ideally located between the larger towns of Workington, Maryport and Cockermouth, "where there is a strong demand in the area for new build homes," in line with Allerdale Borough Council's Local Plan for housing.
The development itself will be made up of 13 affordable homes, priced at 20% lower than their market value,
Construction at Calluna Grange is set to begin in summer 2021, with the show homes opening in autumn. The first new homes for sale will be released for sale in September 2021 with the first homeowners expected to move into their homes in the Spring of 2022.
