Many of us will have missed catching up with family and friends during lockdown, so this week we’ve been asking readers: where’s the best place to go for a coffee and a natter in and west Cumbria?

The lockdown has affected many things, not least a casual catch-up over a cuppa and cake.

There’s many great cafes where people could meet up – and with things slowly getting back to normal we know there are many readers who are keen to help local businesses get back on their feet over the coming months.

So here in no particular order, here are some of the best places in the county to get a coffee.

1 THE MAD SCIENTIST, JANE STREET, WORKINGTON

This cafe is a very popular place for locals to have a catch-up.

2 BUTTLERFLIES, POW STREET, WORKINGTON

Another much-missed cafe that people can’t wait to see open again. Judy Hodgson said: “Butterflies in Workington do a great coffee and cake.”

Kelly Farmer posted: “Lovely food and the staff are fantastic.”

Elaine Boag said: “The food is delicious. The owners know their customers and make everyone welcome. The staff are also lovely and always have a smile on their faces.”

3 VEEVA!, STATION ROAD, COCKERMOUTH

One of the highlights of this cafe is the staff say Times & Star readers.

4 WILD ZUCCHINIS, STATION ROAD, COCKERMOUTH

Another popular choice by readers in the town.
